 Stations of the Cross

Childrens' Stations of the Cross

1. Jesus is condemned to death.

Sometimes I feel helpless, left out and rejected too. God, let me feel your love when I am down and feeling like this. God let me also feel for others who have similar problems to me.

2. Jesus takes up his cross.

Dear Lord, sometimes children around the world have to take heaps and heaps of loads of wood and water because their parents do not have much money, and they have all sorts of other work to do. God, please give them strength to go on. Help us not to forget that there are children who are in this situation.

3. Jesus falls for the first time.

Sometimes we feel that we need more strength to carry things too, Jesus, so please help me not to give up or lose my temper.

4. Jesus meets his mother, Mary.

Sometimes we feel alone, sad and depressed. Dear God, thank you for the parents who love us and care for us, all our relatives that love us.

5. Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry the cross.

Sometimes we feel rejected and left out. God, we pray for the people who help and love us in our times of need, especially when we have no strength left to go on.

6. Veronica wipes the face of Jesus.

Dear God, sometimes we feel we need help from others. Please help people to help us when we feel unloved.

7. Jesus falls for the second time.

Sometimes we feel useless and ashamed too. God, please help us to not be ashamed of ourselves and to be proud of what we do, especially when we have done our best.

8. Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem.

Sometimes there are people suffering by seeing their friends suffer. Dear God, please look after the people who have suffered or are suffering and give them courage to stand up for themselves.

9. Jesus falls for the third time.

Sometimes we feel unhappy when people leave us out. Dear God, please help me to grow stronger when I fall. Help me to believe in myself and get back up onto my feet again.

10. Jesus is stripped of his garments.

Jesus, sometimes we feel just like you when you had your garments stripped off you. Sometimes people boss us around and neglect us too. You felt sad, ashamed and confused. Please help us to think clearly in situations when we feel like our rights have been taken away from us.

 11. Jesus is nailed on the cross.

Sometimes we feel hurt inside. Dear God, we pray for the people who have been hurt inside.

 12. Jesus dies on the cross.

When people are suffering like Jesus did on the cross, let them die in peace, and help their loved ones cope.

13. Jesus is taken from the cross.

Dear Lord, thank-you for giving us peace after we have suffered. Help us to be strong when we lose our loved ones and help us to remember that we aren't alone in our feelings.

 14. Jesus is laid in the tomb.

God, we pray for the people mourning losses from their family or friends and hope that they can come to peace with their feelings.
